Rob,
Here is the web address for the Muskoka River Water Management Plan.
http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/EBR/muskoka_river/exec_sum_musk_riv.pdf
An explanation for the change to yearly, managed water levels is set out in several documents. I started my search by going to Google and putting in Muskoka River Water Management Plan. There are several Adobe files under the first link. Hope this info is helpful. The problem is that their plan has had some very destructive results.
Happy reading!
Kathy

I believe these are very compelling accounts,
and significant impacts.
I would think that it deserves a comprehensive response from MNR as to the rationale for higher water levels.
However their response seems to indicate that they do not
acknowlege higher water levels.
Some sort of public/verified record might be available?
Perhaps the mayors office can easily get a copy of this.
The snow fall this past year was much less than past years, I believe.

Elaine,
I have received stories from several Fairy Lake property owners attesting to the fact that the 'new' water levels are having detrimental affects. In general terms, residents are not so much concerned with water levels affecting their docks (most are quite new) but rather are concerned with the destruction of shoreline, as the attached accounts will reveal.
Thanks for pursuing this issue on our behalf.
