As a means of encouraging good environmental stewardship in our communities, the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Lakes Council (HLoBLC) is promoting a seminar by Dr. Stephen Murphy – the new Chair of the Environmental Studies Program for the University of Waterloo. Dr. Murphy’s talk will be given in the Centre at the University of Waterloo’s Huntsville Campus (87 Forbes Hill Drive ) on Saturday, August 28th at 11:00 a.m. and everyone is invited.

Dr. Murphy will speak on:
Aquatic 'health' for our lakes (part of the larger Muskoka/Highlands ecosystem)
· how this relates to economic drivers
· how all of the above then relate to green and intelligent communities of a more diverse nature; what can we realistically expect, what are the pitfalls and what
actions are best taken now
· how to avoid over-planning or over bureaucratizing the process
· how this ties in with the Lake of Bays and its watershed in terms of the future vision for the communities
