CHAIR’S REPORT
08 September 2007
Welcome to all of you. My thanks to the directors for agreeing to sit for another term. A special thanks to Bruce Howlett and Burr Atkinson for joining me on the executive. We will probably become known as the three Bs. I would especially like to welcome the new directors to our board – Tonia Di Sabatino representing oxbow Lake association, Joe Swiniarski/Wendy Olan, representing Bittern Lake Association, Ian Hastie, representing Lake Vernon association and Michael Young, representing Hidden Valley Property Owners Association.
In all fairness to our new directors, I would like to take another moment and introduce ourselves and our association starting with ---. Thank you.
On august 23, Bruce, Burr and I met to exchange views regarding policies and procedures of the HLC for the next while. I will be meeting with the various committee chairs to review the responsibilities of that committee if not in person then at least by e-mail. In the meantime seek out members to help with your committee.
It was agreed to purchase a tape recorder for the HLC to assist the secretary in recording the minutes, something that should have previously been done.
Burr has resigned as back-up representative of the HLC from the town’s environment committee for personal reasons. We are looking for a replacement. If you are interested, please consult with Mary Mc Culley.
On august 30 we learned that the OMB awarded a new hearing in favour of the applicant from Lake Wwaseosa. Bruce will comment further in his report.
On September 1, I attended Lake Vernon’s AGM and spoke to the membership. Subsequent to that, Ian Hastie volunteered to represent the Lake Vernon association for which i am thankfull.
On Tuesday, September 25, Burr will be representing the HLC at the opening of Little Norway memorial building at the Muskoka airport in the presence of the prime minister of Norway and possibly the prime minister of Canada.
